Can Dogs Eat Mango?

Updated October 2026 · By the Hushku editorial team · 1 sources

Yes, in moderation

Yes, in moderation. Peeled mango flesh is a safe, vitamin-rich treat for dogs. Remove the pit, which is a choking and blockage risk and contains small amounts of cyanide compounds, and keep portions small because of the sugar.

This guide is general information, not a diagnosis. If your pet seems unwell, or you're worried, call your vet.

What you need to know

The AKC lists mango as safe in moderation once the stone is removed. The skin can be hard to digest, so peel it first.

How to offer it safely

  • Peel, remove the stone and cut into small pieces.
  • Offer occasionally, a few pieces at a time.

Treats, including human food, should make up no more than about 10% of your dog's daily calories. Our calorie calculator shows your dog's daily needs. Introduce any new food slowly and stop if it causes vomiting or loose stools.
