Best Family Pet Care Apps for Sharing Care at Home

The best apps for sharing pet care with your family, roommates and sitter, compared on shared reminders, care logs and health records. Pricing checked October 2026.

Updated October 2026 · 3 apps compared · How we compare apps

Disclosure: Hushku makes a free pet app (launching soon). It isn't ranked in these roundups. Where it covers part of a category, we say so in a separate, clearly labelled box, and we never claim to have tested it against the apps listed here.

In a lot of homes the pet has three or four carers: partners, kids, a roommate, a walker, a neighbour who feeds the cat at weekends. The problems that come with that are always the same ones. The dog gets fed twice. The evening tablet gets missed. The sitter doesn't know the flea treatment is due.

A family pet care app solves this by giving everyone the same routine and a shared record of what's been done. Below, we compare the main options on how well they handle more than one carer, based on what each app publishes and its App Store listing in October 2026. For the non-app side of this, see our guide to sharing pet care at home.

The apps

DogLog

A dog activity log. You form a "pack" with other carers so everyone's entries (food, walks, potty, medicine, grooming and more) land in one shared history, and sitters and walkers can add photos and messages. Reminders and charts are included; some health features need Premium.

DogLog is the closest thing to a shared dog diary: every carer logs what they did, and the pack sees it straight away. Its App Store rating was 4.8 from about 1,400 ratings in October 2026.

Pricing

Free to download with ads. Premium was listed at $3.99 a month or $39.99 a year on the US App Store in October 2026.

Check the app's own site for current prices.

Strengths

  • Shared "pack" for family, sitters and walkers
  • Logs a wide range of daily activities
  • Reminders, charts and export for your vet

Drawbacks

  • Dog-focused
  • Some health features need Premium
  • Ads in the free version

Cozi Family Organizer

Not a pet app, but a widely used family organiser with a shared colour-coded calendar, reminders and to-do lists. Many families use it for vet appointments and pet chores alongside everything else.

Cozi is a general family organiser rather than a pet app, with a very large user base (about 401,000 ratings, averaging 4.8, on the US App Store in October 2026).

Pricing

Free with ads. Cozi Gold removes ads and adds features such as change notifications; check the App Store for the current price in your country.

Check the app's own site for current prices.

Strengths

  • Shared calendar and lists the whole family already uses
  • Good for vet appointments and chore lists
  • Works on phones and computers

Drawbacks

  • No pet profiles, health records or medication tracking
  • Nothing to show a meal or dose was done other than ticking a list

11pets

A pet health tracker for medication reminders, appointments, weight and documents such as vaccination records, with sharing of records with your vet. Its App Store listing doesn't describe sharing with other household members.

11pets is a pet health record app with medication reminders, appointments and document storage. Its US App Store rating was 3.3 from 77 ratings in October 2026, with some reviewers reporting problems after a major update.

Pricing

Free to download, with in-app purchases listed at $1.99 and $17.99 in October 2026.

Check the app's own site for current prices.

Strengths

  • Health records, medication reminders and documents in one place
  • Shares records with your vet

Drawbacks

  • Sharing with other household members isn't described in its listing
  • Mixed recent reviews

What to look for in a family pet care app

Most pet apps are built for one owner. For a shared home, check these before you pick one.

Everyone gets their own login

Each carer should be able to sign in as themselves, so you can see who fed or walked the pet, and remove a sitter's access when they're done.

Reminders go to the whole household

A reminder only on your phone doesn't help when your partner is the one at home. Check that reminders can go to everyone, or to whoever is responsible.

Marking a job done is quick

If logging a meal takes more than a couple of taps, people stop doing it. Try it with a real routine for a few days.

Health records live in the same place

Vaccinations, medication and vet details are what a sitter or family member most often needs in a hurry.

Questions

What's the best way to stop two people feeding the dog?

Give each meal one named owner and record it the moment it's done, on a fridge chart or in a shared app that everyone in the house can see.

Can I use a family calendar app for pet care?

Yes, for appointments and chores. A general calendar won't hold health records or show whether a dose was given, so many families pair one with a pet-specific app or a paper log.

Should the pet sitter use the same app?

Ideally, yes. If your sitter can see the same routine and log what they've done, you don't need a separate set of printed instructions, and you'll know the pet's been fed.

Bottom line

The family pet care landscape is more competitive than it's ever been, which is genuinely good for pet owners. The specialist apps reviewed above have real strengths in their core categories — depth of features built over years of focused development. The right choice depends on which two or three features you'll actually use every week. Start there, check current pricing, and try the free tier before you commit.

How we compare apps

  • Public information, not hands-on lab tests: Each comparison is based on what the apps publish (features, pricing, policies), their app store listings and update history, and recurring themes in owner reviews and forums. We say so plainly rather than claim testing we didn't do.
  • Owner reviews, read for patterns: We look for problems and praise that come up again and again across many reviews, rather than single complaints or five-star bursts.
  • Prices and features change: Figures were correct to the best of our knowledge when updated. Check the app's own site before you pay for anything.
